A part of running your vending business is to generate more business by acquiring new vending locations. This is a continuation from a previous article about how to approach businesses in your local area and what to say to get your machines into the location.
When you return to that facility, you can see what kind of machines they have, if any, the name of the operator, age of the machines, prices on the machines, etcetera. Furthermore, you can inquire if they are satisfied and happy with the vending service provider. Do they come in and fill the machines on a regular basis every week? Are they constantly stocked with fresh products? Lastly, you can add, “We carry a wide variety of products like fresh beverages, juices, bottled water, and fresh snacks…healthy items.”
Once you explain it like that, you know you want to give them as much of an understanding of what you do in a very quick time-frame because you have a number, they are sitting there answering the phones, they have people coming in and out, and most of the time they do not like to be bothered much.
So you have to get your message across quickly. Sometimes I have had occasions when the receptionist or someone will say, “Why don’t you come to the back. I’ll show you the machines.”
Perhaps you decide not to leave a business card but instead leave a one page flyer. Put all the benefits on the one page flyer, so that they have it right there. Therefore, you know you are providing newer equipment, good machines, excellent product selection, and healthy snacks. Also, you know you have good service and that you are going to be in regularly refilling the machines.
You never know what their situation could be because you might hit them at a time when they’re struggling with something on your list and your information sheet with the other operator. Furthermore, they might think, “This guy came in at the right time, and he is the perfect solution for my problem.
