• In organisation change, the transition phase is one of the major concerns. This is when the project has come to a close and time to turn over things to the run the business team. More often than not, these kind of transitions are very poorly managed.

    The major reason for this problem is that management doesn’t realize that they’re responsible for these transitions. In some cases, there’s this expectation from internal management, that the external staffers should be the one to handle everything regarding the change project. This is not a very realisitc expectation to have.

    External staffers don’t have the power to come up with resources anytime they want to. External staffing is only used as a short term fix and they’re practically voiceless in the organization as a whole. They’re not in the position to handle the transitions in organisation change. It is the internal management’s job to take care of these things. They need to be able to supervise the right people and see to it that they learn everything from procedures to programs needed.

    There’s this idea that the transition is a part of the organisation change project, thus the expectation. There is some truth in the perception. But in reality, transition is not really part of the change project itself. The organisation change project is over when the goals of the project are complete, which is typically what external staffing is hired to do. External staffing does not have the authority to make internal staffing do what they need to do, only internal management can accomplish that feat.
