eBay offers some of the greatest payouts for an affiliate marketer. Where else can you refer someone to a $1.00 item and earn a hefty $50.00+ commission? Sure there are CPA offers where this scenario can be seen but not ones where I would hang a long term business plan on. CPA offers come and go sometimes overnight.
Why Does eBay Offer Affiliate Such High Payouts?
The scenario mentioned above won’t happen with all referrals of course. The commission structure from eBay is actually… up to $50 for new referrals AND up to 75% of transaction fees, or just the transaction fees if the customer is not new.
Using some sort of algorithm, eBay decides whether you deserve $50.00 for the new referral and they could opt to pay you less. If the feeling is that you referred a long time customer you will get $50.00 for that referral, plain and simple. If it seems to be a one time customer you will get significantly less than that.
I have no clue how the algorithm works. Perhaps it is based on the buyers browsing behavior prior to making a purchase. Perhaps they placed bids on several items? They could have set “watches” on a bunch of auctions? Whatever it may be I have experienced that the tighter the niche of the site, the more I seem to make for a referral.
As far as the up to 75% of transaction fees go, eBay bases that on the actual winning bid revenue. Often times we will be getting closer to 50% or slightly more of the transaction fees unless we target big ticket items only.
The commissions will vary based on country as well. I was quoting the most popular, the U.S. market.

Using A Wordpress Blog To Host Auctions From Multiple Countries
An extremely simple, cost effective way to come out of the gate strong promoting eBay auctions is to use a Wordpress blog and php bay. Once the phpBay plugin is installed, it is a simple one line of code to list several live auctions into a post or page. There is also a widget you can add into the sidebar to show live auctions.
One distinct advantage phpBay has over a competing product, BANS, is that with just one site, or in this case… blog, you are able to list auctions from multiple countries.
There is a free phpBay addon plugin available that, based on the visitors IP address, will determine their closest related eBay country and display auctions that will ship to that particular country. The visitor will also be provided with a dropdown list should they want to see auctions from a different country in the rare instance the country was misinterpreted.
How Niche Can You Get With phpBay?
You can get extremely specific on the auctions to display with phpBay. You can list auctions by keyword AND category with the added ability to add keywords that you do not want to show up.
Creating auction listings for a specific seller ID is a snap with phpBay. This is a great option for avid eBay sellers. This allows you to get referral commissions on the front end, all the while promoting your eBay auctions and getting revenue on the back end. I can’t understand why ALL eBay sellers aren’t doing this!
With the ability to show only auctions in a certain price range you can have a under $100 used laptop store for example. And please don’t get hung up on promoting big ticket items only because of the transaction fees. Regardless of the price of the item, a new customer can be worth up to $50 in the U.S. market.
Some people are doing well with city specific eBay blogs. With phpBay you can list items where the seller is in a certain radius based on postal code. Having the ability to pick up items locally could be the “benefit” of doing eBay shopping through your blog.
I’ve really only scratched the surface on what you are able to do with phpBay. Almost any niche on an existing blog can see spikes in revenue quickly after adding phpBay driven eBay listings.Even the simplest usage by only having one page of auctions geared towards a specific keyword has increased revenue on many of my blogs.
[spin]The great thing is you can use the phpBay plugin on as many blogs as you like. [spin]Get yourself a phpbay discount code and get started for next to nothing.
