Some jobs need stories to be written each day around certain topics. In the early days it can be easy to write your first few stories, but how do you keep thinking up new ways to incorporate this subject without continually repeating yourself?
Journalists come up with this problem when they need to write articles around a current issue which has been in the public eye for weeks. If the issue is still current, then stories are needed, but there may not be an evident new angle to the editorial.
Journalism is not the only role where it is required to write stories. There are some Online Jobs which also need stories to be written, maybe for blogs. Again, these may revolve around a particular subject which needs to be kept in the public’s eye, but which may not have an apparent new angle. Being able to think outside of the box is key.
Listen when others speak to you, often there will be an approach you can use for a story which you had not thought about until that time. Keep your eyes open – sometimes editorials can come from the most surprising places. Wherever you are, make certain there is pen and paper close by to make quick notes for any ideas which come to you. Afterwards, it may be tricky to remember exactly what the storyline you had in mind at the time was.
If you are working for an Internet Business, it most likely also means you Work From Home, which could mean you are not often coming into contact with other folk so try and write about things you understand. Write from your own experiences. Often one or two articles can be created around a similar subject by merely reading your article and thinking of questions you would like to have answered which are not covered in this editorial. Could they be dealt with in a story of their own.
The Online Jobs which deal with the writing of blogs are in all probability only short stories so it should be possible to write a few articles around onesubject. For an Internet Business, there are many blogs around and news articles specifically targeted to one area, so there is the chance to read these and then write your own editorials based around any new information you have pulled together. Beware plagiarism! Read the article, make notes, then write your own story totally independently of the original. That way you are positive that you use your own words and thoughts.
If you need to refer to work from others, ensure you acknowledge their work in your own. Do not try and pass it off as something you have thought of yourself. If you have a good idea, but do not think you know enough about it to write a story, do some research. You have found it an interesting subject so others may do so too.
Just because you may Work From Home, do not restrict yourself when you are looking for new ideas. Be prepared to go out and talk to others, this is a fundamental part of your job and you are not being irresponsible in your job to leave the house, in fact it is a good way to keep your stories alive and interesting.
